Hunt County Pets Alive's original goal was to help the other rescues in the area.  That goal is still in the works, as there is strength in unity, but in the past year, HCPA has broadened it's vision and expanded into a full fledge foster based rescue, having up to 100 animals in it's care at any given time.  Imagine the possibilities if there were a facility to help house even more animals in need.  This past year, we were able to get enough donations to actually have a small metal building constructed with concrete flooring and some new metal kennels for the inside.  There is currently no water or electricity.  It only has 12 kennels (doggie doors for inside and outside access) so some of the dogs are still being housed in outside uncovered pens.  Getting those covered is our next big goal which we will pursue in 2020.

We have added a small cat building that can have about a dozen cages that has heat and air and has been a blessing in keeping our cats in a more comfortable environment.  An outside cattery is our next project for them so they can enjoy nice days outside.  This greatly reduces their stress level and overall health.

We are currently working with some rescues & organizations in the various states and transferring dogs and puppies from this area to them as they have a much great adoption rate on dogs there.  At times we have transported these dogs ourselves, doing whatever is needed to make this transport agreement be fulfilled.
